The Orton-Gillingham approach is a research-based, multi-sensory method designed to help students with reading, writing, and spelling. The approach helps students by breaking down language into smaller, manageable parts, making it easier to understand how words are formed and pronounced. It builds strong foundational skills in reading and writing, improving fluency, decoding, spelling, and comprehension.
All students can benefit from the OG approach but it is especially effective for students with dyslexia, and struggling students as it uses a structured and sequential method that addresses the individual needs of each learner through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning techniques.
Yes, beginning in 2025 both in-person and online virtual tutoring options will be available. Online sessions are conducted through a platform with interactive tools that make learning engaging and effective. Students are required to have access to a quiet work environment and remote learning materials to ensure a smooth session.
Yes, supporting students with disabilities, including those with dyslexia and ADHD, is a core part of what we do at Palmetto Pathways. Many students that benefit from accommodations such as 504 plans and IEPs in school will also benefit from sessions at Palmetto Pathways that are personalized and tailored to each student’s unique needs. The goal is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment where students can build confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve success in their learning journey.
Yes! While literacy is my specialty through the Orton-Gillingham approach, I also assist with other subjects as part of homeschooling support. Each lesson is tailored to meet the requirements of your student's homeschool curriculum.
Yes, weekly sessions for homework assistance are provided for all school subjects. Project assistance is welcome too.
It is recommended students attend weekly sessions to provide consistent support and progress. However, we can customize the frequency based on your child’s needs. Some families choose sessions twice weekly for more intensive support.
To get started, simply reach out through the contact form, email, or by phone. An initial consultation will be set up to assess your child’s needs, determine goals, and create a personalized tutoring plan. After that, we’ll schedule sessions based on availability.
